The Japanese animation studio ufotable recently indirectly confirmed that the second part of the “Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle” trilogy will not be released until next year at the earliest. We summarize.
Part 2 not before 2027
Just yesterday we reported on the promo video from studio ufotable, which gives an outlook on the upcoming works of the renowned anime company – and it not only provided information about the upcoming anime project for “Genshin Impact”, but also an indication of the earliest possible release of the next film in the three-part “Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle” series.
While the first half of the video deals with the year 2026, “Demon Slayer” along with “Genshin Impact” was only mentioned in the “Future Projects” section, which would likely rule out a theatrical release this year.
As a result, the second “Infinity Castle” film is not expected until 2027 – an assumption that has been around for a long time within the fan community.
After all, the first film took around three and a half years to be made, and ufotable will certainly do everything in its power to deliver at least the same high quality standard again – especially since a higher budget is also in the cards.
But no matter how long the production of the sequel may take, the enormous success of the first film, which is the most successful Japanese film of all time with a global box office of almost 800 million US dollars, definitely proves those responsible and their approach right.
