One year after the streaming premiere of “KPop Demon Hunters,” Netflix looks back on the extraordinary success of the animated film. We summarize.
52 weeks in the Netflix charts
As the VoD service recently announced, “KPop Demon Hunters” has been in the “Global Top 10” charts for an impressive 52 weeks since its release on June 20, 2025.
The animated film also made it into the top 10 most viewed films in all 93 countries for which viewing data is published. With more than 600 million views worldwide, it is also the most successful title in Netflix’s history.
The soundtrack also became a huge success and even reached first place on the Billboard album charts at one point. It now has more than 15 billion streams on various platforms.
Given the numbers, it’s not surprising that Netflix has already confirmed the production of a sequel. Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans will return to the director’s chair, while Sony Pictures will again be responsible for the animation. However, a date is still pending.
