After the good reception of Star Wars Outlaws on Nintendo Switch 2, two other flagship titles in the franchise could land very soon on Nintendo’s new generation console. According to a credible leak, Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor are already in development for the Switch 2.
A technically feasible port
Star Wars continues to expand in the video game world, and Nintendo does not intend to stay away. According to well-known leaker Nash Weedle, Disney’s strategy is now clear: increase the number of releases of its games on the hybrid platform. “Disney insists that all video games related to the franchise be released on Switch 2,” he said on X. “Therefore, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor should already be available on Nintendo’s new console.”
Released in 2019, Jedi: Fallen Order was praised for its solid storytelling and Souls-like gameplay. Already adapted for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, the game has proven that it can be optimized for multiple generations of consoles. Jedi: Survivor, its sequel launched in 2023, also benefited from a port to old platforms, which suggests that a launch on Switch 2 is entirely feasible.
An intensifying Disney strategy
The Switch 2, much more powerful than its predecessor, seems capable of hosting these titles provided specific optimizations are made. Developers at Respawn Entertainment have significantly improved Survivor’s performance since its launch, work that would facilitate a technically stable Switch 2 version.
The success of Star Wars Outlaws, already available on Switch 2, would have accelerated discussions between Nintendo and Disney. The game has experienced a positive “cultural reassessment” according to players, who welcome a careful and fluid port. Enough to reinforce the idea that the Switch 2 has become a real priority for major licenses.
A third episode on the way
Disney would now seek to centralize its future video game releases on all platforms, including the hybrid console. Although EA and Respawn have yet to comment on this leak, the momentum seems to be on.
At the same time, Respawn is already working on a third part of the Star Wars Jedi trilogy. Very little information has leaked, except that this last episode could be developed with Unreal Engine 5. A technology which still raises questions about Switch 2 compatibility, but which confirms the ambition of the saga.
For the moment, no release date has been announced for the Switch 2 versions of Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor. But if we are to believe Disney’s stated desire, official announcements could come very soon.
