The Witcher 4 quietly confirms its release window, and that’s good news

Will The Witcher 4 ever come out? This is the question fans of the universe created by CD Projekt RED are asking. While the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 will not arrive before 2028, the spotlight turns to The Witcher 4, which could well land a year earlier. Without a shocking revelation, the Polish studio would have slipped meaningful clues into its latest financial statement.

By analyzing the comments made by the leaders of CD Projekt RED, it is possible to clarify the vagueness which still surrounds the release date of the next opus. The elements collected make it possible to draw a probable launch window: the year 2027, for lack of a better term.

A discreet but significant revelation in a financial report

It was through the studio’s official YouTube channel that Piotr Nielubowicz, financial director of CD Projekt RED, spoke in a video dedicated to the third quarter of 2025. If no precise date was given, one element caught the attention: the confirmation that Cyberpunk 2 won’t be released until 2028.

Why is this important? Because The Witcher 4 is supposed to precede Cyberpunk 2 in the official roadmap. This simple fact allows us to deduce a range for the launch of the medieval fantasy role-playing game: 2026 at the earliest, 2027 most likely.

No trailer at the Game Awards: a bad sign?

Another major element: the absence of any trailer during the Game Awards in December 2025. A deliberate choice confirmed by the CEO of CDPR, Michał Nowakowski. On Twitter, he wrote: “I’m very happy to see The Witcher 4 nominated in the Most Anticipated Game category at The Game Awards” before specifying: “Thank you to everyone who has already voted – your support means a lot to us. We won’t be showing any new content at the TGA this year, but as always, we look forward to watching the ceremony and celebrating with you this exceptional evening which highlights our industry.”

This strategic choice reinforces the idea that the game is still far from being ready for active communication. However, in the industry, absent communication rarely means an early exit.

A release in 2026 seems less and less plausible

Fans could have hoped for a release in 2026, but the lack of any new promotional footage suggests that this option is fading away. Right now, 2027 becomes the most logical target for The Witcher 4, taking into account CDPR’s development schedule and the studio’s stated priorities. Caution remains in order, because nothing is set in stone. Delays may occur. But all signs now point to a prolonged wait.

CD Projekt RED is taking measured steps to avoid past mistakes

After a controversial launch for Cyberpunk 2077, the studio seems decided to play the card of partial transparency and caution. The Witcher 4 is expected, but not at any price. The game will have to live up to the standards that fans expect. CD Projekt RED seems to be fully aware of this, which would explain this controlled communication.

A single watchword for the fans: patience.
