While CD Projekt Red takes time to develop The Witcher 4fans are not waiting idly. A new free quest titled Dawn over Kovir has just been put online. And it changes the situation: for the first time, you embody Ciri in an adventure designed as a gateway to the future episode of the saga.
The Polish studio has confirmed that Ciri would be the main heroine of the next game, taking the place of Geralt. This unofficial mod therefore allows you to project yourself into this major change while extending the experience of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
Ciri, between rage and compassion
The quest takes place in a new fully modeled region by the creators of the mod, with an atmosphere very faithful to the original universe. The story, for its part, focuses on the inner torments of Ciri, now an adult and left to her own devices.
Here is the official description: “When she hunts monsters, Ciri finds them more and more often not in forests, but among humans. Disillusioned by humanity, she oscillates between compassion and rage. Will the witcher manage to control her anger and avoid becoming a monster herself? A summary that sets the tone: this prequel is not simple fan service, but a dark introspection on what it means to become a witcher.
A mod inspired by the first trailer for The Witcher 4
The graphic style and staging of the mod clearly follow the visual codes of the trailer for The Witcher 4broadcast in 2025. Ciri already appeared there as a solitary warrior, marking a break with the brief playable sequences of Wild Hunt. This quest therefore allows us to rediscover this spirit in a playable format, with a central Ciri, much more fleshed out in terms of gameplay, emotions and interactions.
