The Witcher 4: CD Projekt Red makes a big announcement, fans will be delighted

It’s been several years now since The Witcher 4 was made official, but concrete information remains rare. Since the trailer shown during the Game Awards 2024, CD Projekt Red has maintained the mystery around its next major game.

This wait may soon end. The Polish studio has confirmed that it will present The Witcher 4 next June, during the Unreal Engine Fest. An appointment which could offer a new insight into the highly anticipated game.

The Witcher 4 will be shown at Unreal Engine Fest in June

The information comes from episode 26 of the AnsweRED podcast. CD Projekt Red confirms that The Witcher 4 will be presented during Unreal Engine Fest, scheduled for June 2026. In this episode, animation director Maciej Pietras looks back on the studio’s participation in the event last year. He explains that this conference made it possible to show “a lot of the technologies that we used”. The studio plans to repeat a similar approach this year. However, no details have been given regarding the exact nature of the images that will be revealed.

Technical demo or real gameplay?

The question remains. At the previous year’s State of Unreal, CD Projekt Red presented a technical demonstration based on the tools and capabilities of the Unreal Engine. This was not a complete gameplay clip, but an overview of the technologies used to design the world of The Witcher 4.

For June 2026, several scenarios remain possible: an enriched version of the previous technical demo, a real-time cutscene produced with the game engine, or real gameplay sequences. Unless an additional trailer is released before summer, Unreal Engine Fest should be the next official opportunity to check out some never-before-seen footage.

Ciri at the heart of the new chapter

The Witcher 4 marks a major turning point for the series. After The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, released in 2015, the studio is making a significant change. Geralt will no longer be the main playable character. The central role will be entrusted to Ciri, his adopted daughter. This choice opens the way to a new narrative dynamic.

Even though Geralt should remain present in the plot, his involvement could be comparable to that of Vesemir in the original trilogy. This change in protagonist already fuels many expectations regarding the direction of the scenario and the specific mechanics linked to Ciri’s powers.

What release date for The Witcher 4?

No official launch date has been communicated. The game has reportedly been in development since 2022 and is aimed at current generation consoles. According to some rumors, a release at the end of 2027 is being considered.

It is also indicated that the title should see the light of day before the arrival of the PS6. The June meeting could provide new clues about the progress of the project and the schedule that CD Projekt Red is considering for its next main game.
