Released in May 2015, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has established itself as one of the most notable games of its time, with more than 60 million copies sold. While two major expansions — Hearts of Stone And Blood and Wine — have completed Geralt’s adventure, a persistent rumor today suggests that a third DLC is in development. And not just bonus content: true scripted expansionwith new region, new monsters and narrative issues.

A credible leak from Poland

The noise comes from a report from IGN Poland, then relayed on the subreddit GamingLeaksAndRumours. The Polish media says:
“We have been aware of the behind-the-scenes work on a potential expansion project for a very long time. We do not wish to reveal specific dates in order to protect our sources. » These words reinforce a old rumorknown to Polish fans and linked to a new setting: Zerrikaniaan eastern, arid and mysterious region never before explored in games.

Zerrikania: a perfect setting for a farewell (or a transition?)

Opposite to the cold of Kovir (where will be located The Witcher 4), Zerrikania would offer a radical contrast: desert, forgotten temples, dragon-serpents… An exotic land populated by formidable warriors, who could serve as a link between The Witcher 3 and 4. A player sums up this hypothesis on Reddit: “The DLC will show Geralt learning that a new conjunction of spheres will occur, the event that made the Witchers necessary. It would be the perfect transition to The Witcher 4.”

Nothing official, but a solid hope

CD Projekt Red has not confirmed anything yet. Officially, The Witcher 3 has completed its life cycle after Blood and Wine. But with a next-gen port in 2022popularity intact, and developers still passionate about this universe, it is entirely plausible that the studio decided to extend the adventure before definitively turning the page. One fan enthusiastically concludes: “I still find it hard to believe that we are getting something of the caliber of Blood and Wine so many years later, but I hope all these rumors are true. »
