The closure date of the MMO servers is set, and it will be January 31, 2027

New World is now removed from stores

The information has been hanging over our heads since the last update of New World : the servers will officially close next year. More precisely, the game remains playable until January 31, 2027. This leaves you a little over a year to continue enjoying Amazon Games’ MMO, if you still feel like it. Since the announcement of the end of its monitoring, the pill has struggled to pass and negative reviews have accumulated on Steam.

The development team still wanted to communicate following the news of the day. And in addition to the date of closure of the servers, she also indicated that New World has been withdrawn from sales on the various digital stores, a measure effective as of January 15. It is therefore impossible to access the game if it has not been added to your library before, including for PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium subscription holders, unless again you have downloaded it for the first time.

A message to the players was also sent to thank them for their presence during these four years:

“We would like to thank you, the players, for your dedication and passion. We thank you for your time building the world of Aeternum with us. Together we have built something truly unique. Although we are sad to say goodbye, we are honored to have been able to share so much with the community. »

And although it is complicated to gather enthusiasm around a game with an end date, the development team closes its speech by inviting the adventure to end in the best possible way:

“We had a lot of fun working on New World: Aeternum and evolving this unforgettable adventure with all of you. We can’t wait to spend another year together and give this fantastic adventure a start worthy of a legendary hero. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for sharing this world with us. »

It is not certain that the appeal will therefore take place, nor that confidence can be reallocated on the occasion of a possible new multiplayer game, especially if we put the situation in parallel with the outcome that the MMO in the Lord of the Rings universe seems to have taken (even though it is still listed on the official Amazon Games website).
