The game is not new, however.
Let us be clear from the outset: we too are already annoyed to see each future RPG being compared to Chiaroscuro: Expedition 33as if no other RPG had been released in the last 20 years and as if the latter had invented an entire genre when it is only a vibrant homage (and it does it very well). However, it is easy to understand why this Sword and Fairy 4: Remake is compared to the French RPG, as certain biases are the same.
We are talking here about HUD, camera position, staging, or even parade system, which obviously remind us of Chiaroscuro: Expedition 33 (even if he didn’t invent any of this) given that the latter is still fresh in our minds, but it is mainly because the game is also designed using the Unreal Engine 5 that the comparison is obvious, given that the engine tends to standardize everything.
It is therefore true that the game from CubeGame and Up Software is perhaps inspired by the coating of the Sandfall title, but he also returns to his true roots since Sword and Fairy 4 already had a turn-based system. A return to the sources which drastically changes its appearance because of the engine used, making the artistic direction of the time significantly less colorful today, but which should make it possible to address a whole new audience, why not Western.
Let us also not forget that the development of the title started a little while ago, since its announcement dates from December 2024but who knows what was changed along the way this year.
No release date yet for Sword and Fairy 4: Remakewhich is planned for PC.
