In this unique narrative game, you play Chris David, unlikely heir to an old abandoned English hotel. But the affair is far from peaceful: the player only has 30 days to restore the place before the ghosts take permanent possession of the place.
The days are devoted to renovation, with tools like paint guns, sandblasters or furniture cannons. A touch of crazy gameplay which gives the title its offbeat identity. “Will you be able to keep your cool while everything is falling apart around you?”
At night, room for spirits and the absurd
As night falls, the tone changes radically. The same tools that were used to repaint walls become weapons to hunt down supernatural entities. The furniture cannon allows you, for example, to project objects to trap ghosts in the library.
This constant gap between British humor, strange atmosphere and atypical gameplay makes the experience so special. Far from traditional horror games, There Are No Ghosts at the Grand prefers paranormal comedy, with a tone sometimes close to Monty Python.
Side missions in a very British village
