With the regular arrival of big releases on Steam, some indie games easily go unnoticed. However, Valve’s platform continues to host many free titles that may surprise players.
A recent publication from the Free Steam Games account highlights eight new games available for free on the platform. These titles can be downloaded unconditionally and then remain permanently in the player’s library.
Eight free games available now on Steam
The new selection includes eight independent titles recently added to the platform. Among the most recent is Go Ape Ship!, a chaotic cooperative multiplayer game for one to eight players. In this game, participants take on the role of a crew of Astrochimps tasked with keeping a spaceship operational. Players must deal with emergencies, upgrade their equipment and survive against different threats.
Another title offered for free is Selective Memory. This psychological exploration game immerses the player in a time loop made up of fragmented memories. To progress, you have to relive different moments from the past and understand how these memories come together in order to escape this loop.
Original experiences for VR and strategy enthusiasts
Players with a virtual reality headset can also experience Woodlike. This game tells the story of a lonely old carpenter who encounters an injured woodpecker. Together, they explore their relationship and try to find new meaning in their existence.
Battle For The Raise offers a completely different approach. The game adopts a turn-based battle system inspired by games like Pokémon, but the action takes place in a professional environment. The player must confront his superiors using logic, emotion, data, and even sarcasm to climb the corporate ladder.
Puzzle and multiplayer games also available
Puzzle enthusiasts can also turn to Catjong 3: Purrl of the East. This game offers more than 200 levels inspired by Mahjong, while allowing you to build different gardens and temples. Fall With Friends takes on a much more competitive tone. In this physics-based multiplayer game, one player must destroy a tower while the others try to stay on top for as long as possible. The game sometimes encourages betrayal between friends to survive the structure’s collapse.
Other free games complete the selection
Competitive Checkers offers a competitive version of the game of checkers. Players must analyze the board, anticipate their opponents’ moves, and win multiple matches to prove their strategic skills. Finally, League of Mahjong completes this selection of free games.
This title offers online Mahjong games with a quick matchmaking system. Players can face opponents from around the world in games lasting around five minutes.
These eight games illustrate the diversity of titles available for free on Steam. Between cooperative, puzzle, strategy and multiplayer, the platform regularly offers new experiences accessible to all PC players.
