“Steam has truly become the benchmark platform for low-cost or even free PC games, with thousands of titles to choose from, ranging from big AAA productions to small independent gems.” Every week, the Valve platform attracts attention thanks to the titles offered, often from independent studios, but always capable of surprising.
And to open the month of December 2025, Steam is offering four new free games that are worth checking out. Shared by the specialized Free Steam Games account on X (formerly Twitter), these titles cover very different genres, to appeal to a wide audience of curious players.
TEMPUS: a magical tale serving emotion
The first game in this selection, TEMPUS: A Wizard Awakes, stands out for its poetic atmosphere and its well-oiled reflection mechanics. “TEMPUS: A Wizard Awakes, a puzzle adventure game where you play as a retired solitary wizard who finds meaning in his life by helping a crying stone creature find its way home.”
The first reviews are very positive, praising the artistic direction and the touching narration. The gameplay relies on the use of magic to progress through the environment, solve puzzles or repel enemies. A game as tender as it is intelligent.
The Maze and Purrfect Catch: two multiplayer and relaxing surprises
The Maze: Treasure Hunters offers a strategic multiplayer experience. Up to four players compete in a memorization maze to find treasure before the others. It’s a fast-paced puzzle game, perfect for evenings with friends.
Purrfect Catch, on the other hand, presents itself as a fishing game… with a dungeon twist. The player must upgrade gear, fight bosses, and explore four challenge-filled areas. This atypical mix between fishing and RPG brings an unexpected breath of fresh air to Steam’s free catalog.
The Last Elixir: strange alchemy and intriguing potions
Last game offered, and undoubtedly the most striking: The Last Elixir. The player embodies an apprentice alchemist who runs a shop in a universe populated by customers, each more unique than the last. “The art style is truly remarkable and the potion-making mechanics are quite deep and should keep players captivated for hours.”
It’s an immersive, polished title that combines management, storytelling and strategy. Its strange universe and rich mechanics make it an ideal candidate for those who like original experiences, without paying anything.
