Microsoft is doing better than Sony and Nintendo
For the purposes of this ranking, Metacritic establishes a few rules such as awarding more or fewer points below a certain metascore, while only taking into account publishers who released at least 5 games during the past year.
We start at the bottom of the ranking with unfortunately some French publishers who do not shine like Nacon and Microids, respectively in 26th and 25th place, despite the good Hell is Us and the remake ofAmerzone. Dotemu raises the level by ranking in 9th position.
More surprisingly, Bandai Namco also finds itself at the bottom of the ladder in 24th place, while Sony does not enter the top 20 (21st), the fault of Lost Soul Aside or even Midnight Murder Club. Nintendo is only 12th, weighed down by Drag x Drive or even Nintendo Switch 2 World Tourwhile Microsoft climbs to 5th place thanks to games from Bethesda and Activision, not to mention the PS5 port of Forza Horizon 5.
As for the top 3, it starts with Capcom who was entitled to a good year thanks to Monster Hunter Wilds (even if the public doesn’t quite agree with it), then comes Gamirror Gamesmuch less known, which rose to this position thanks to co-publishing on numerous games (like Absolum). First place is taken by Square Enixwho released a little less than ten titles which all found good press. As well as portages (like that of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on PC) as remasters like Final Fantasy Tactics. Enough to put this ranking into perspective, the calculation method of which may be questionable. The complete list can be found on the Metacritic website.
