Sony has indeed decided to stop porting its PlayStation single-player exclusives to PC according to Jason Schreier (Bloomberg)

Don’t wait for Ghost of Yotei, Saros, or Marvel’s Wolverine on PC

While this information should be taken with a grain of salt as it has not yet been confirmed by Sony, sources close to the matter, who wished to remain anonymous, told Jason Schreier that the Tokyo firm had indeed decided to stop the development of several PC ports of its single-player games internally, citing in particular Ghost of Yotei And Saros as examples. In other words, Sucker Punch’s action-adventure game and Housemarque’s upcoming TPS set to remain PlayStation 5 exclusives. As for Marvel’s Wolverineit is not mentioned in the paper but it should logically also only be released on this machine.

Although these same sources also stated that the situation could change again in the future given the unpredictability with which the video game industry evolves and Sony’s plans, different arguments would have pushed the company to make this strategic turnaround. Between the confusion sown among players regarding the vision behind it, the irregular rhythm of announcements and marketing, or the various controversies linked to the obligation to link one’s PSN account in order to benefit from all the in-game features, it seemed obvious for the company that it was better to return to an approach deemed more “direct”namely strengthening the catalog of single-player experiences exclusive to PlayStation consoles. On the other hand, no mention of the lack of finish with which certain ports have been released in the past seems to appear in this list.

Additional cause mentioned by the American journalist which would have led to this change of heart: Microsoft’s future Xbox. According to other rumors, it would run under Windows and would be compatible with a potential large library of PC titles. As a result, it would theoretically be able to play PlayStation IPs on it, such as Horizon, Marvel’s Spider-Man, God of Waretc. A situation which, unsurprisingly, would not please certain Sony executives very much.

Let us remember again that, at the time of writing, the cessation of the design of PC versions of PlayStation single-player productions is not yet official information. However, even if it does, it will normally have no impact on multiplayer games, such as Marathonas well as those run by external studios, such as Death Stranding 2: On the Beach And Kena: Scars of Kosmorawhich will continue to be marketed on several and different platforms.

NEW: Sony no longer plans to release PlayStation games on PC, sources tell Bloomberg News, a major shift in strategy that sees the console maker returning to exclusivity after six years of flirting with multiplatform. Ghost of Yotei and Saros are not coming to PC. www.bloomberg.com/news/article…
