Resident Evil Requiem: a major clue revives the rumor of the Code Veronica remake

The first hours of Resident Evil Requiem didn’t just captivate players with its atmosphere. Very quickly, some fans noticed a strange element while exploring the Wrenwood Hotel, accessible from the start of the game. Thanks to the photo mode, players were able to examine in detail the guest register placed on the reception counter. Among the names listed, two particularly attract attention. Alyssa Ashcroft, well known to fans of the license, but especially Veronica Galibardi. This name, at first glance innocuous, immediately aroused reactions. For part of the community, this is not a simple wink, but a voluntary hint left by Capcom.

Veronica, Avernico… clues accumulating in Requiem

The analysis does not stop at this register. The most attentive players have spotted another disturbing reference in the game. In a bar in the center of Rhodes Hill, a bottle bears the name “Avernico”. This detail did not go unnoticed. Avernico is actually an anagram of the word Veronica, reinforcing the idea of a hidden message.

However, a more down-to-earth explanation exists. Veronica Galibardi is not a fictional character. She is a voice actress who worked on Resident Evil Village and the Italian localization of Requiem.

But it’s hard to imagine that this choice is completely innocent. Capcom knows perfectly well that every detail is scrutinized, analyzed, dissected by a particularly attentive community.

A remake of Code Veronica in preparation for 2027

These clues take on even more weight when put into perspective with information already known. Several sources indicate that a remake of Resident Evil Code Veronica is currently in development. According to some leaks, the game could be revealed later this year, with a planned release in the first quarter of 2027. IGN has already confirmed that a new project around this episode exists.

Released in 2000 on Dreamcast, Code Veronica occupies a special place in the saga. It features Claire and Chris Redfield in a story set between Resident Evil 3 and the following episodes. Despite its separate status in the official numbering, it remains considered a major chapter in the franchise.

Capcom keeps the mystery alive with future Requiem updates

At the same time, Capcom is already preparing the sequel to Resident Evil Requiem. A story expansion is in development, accompanied by new content expected in the coming months.

Director Koshi Nakanishi addressed these additions, saying, “In this story, we will explore the Requiem universe in more depth. We are working hard on it. It will take a little time, so we thank you for your patience and hope you look forward to it.”
