A more ambitious sequel
RUIN had been able to seduce with a gameplay twin stick shooter arcade and dynamic, made spicy by aggressive enemies. Loads of guns, dashes galore and the ability to strike in close combat, these were the strings to our bow to progress through the industrial environments of the cyberpunk city of Rengkok. The good news, when we take a look at the announcement trailer for RUIN 2is that this one seems to take this basis.
Indeed, the gameplay promises to be as pressing as ever, with the main novelty being the possibility of playing cooperatively for up to three. Three is the number of unique combat classes (or “Shells”) for this episode. Each therefore offers its own style of play, and the synergy between several is likely to be interesting. But note that even when playing solo, you can switch “bodies” at any time.
And wanting to get more into action-RPG systems, Reikon Games promises us skill trees based on four skills, for each class. We will admit to you that everything does not seem very clear between bodies and Shells, but what is certain is that the development team is focusing on build depth, which is even better used together, therefore.
Finally, on the story side, we remain with the themes of the first opus, namely a criticism of the enslavement of the population for the benefit of the powerful from which we will try to escape. In short, a good old cyberpunk dystopia.
For now, RUIN 2 is only planned for PC (via Steam and Epic), at a date currently unknown.
