Red Dead Redemption returns to PS5, Netflix and Switch 2, and you can play it for free, and you can play it for free



More than ten years after its initial release, one of Rockstar’s most memorable games is about to return to the spotlight. From December 2, 2025, Red Dead Redemption joins the PlayStation Plus catalog, accessible at no additional cost to subscribers. The news was confirmed via Rockstar’s official blog, putting to rest rumors sparked earlier today by the appearance of new ESRB ratings for current consoles.

But this arrival on PlayStation Plus will not be isolated. In addition to PS5, the game will also be available on Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, iOS and Android.

The console versions were developed in collaboration with Double Eleven and Cast Iron Games, promising an enhanced visual experience and optimized performance. On mobile, players will be able to access it via the Netflix subscription, a first for a Rockstar title.

The game will also include Undead Nightmareits cult extension with horrific overtones. In this additional content, players immerse themselves in an America devastated by a zombie epidemic. As a reminder, Red Dead Redemption takes place after the events of Red Dead Redemption 2and follows Marston’s attempt to leave his outlaw life behind.

While Red Dead Redemption 2 having just been crowned the fourth best-selling game of all time, this return of the original episode is part of a dynamic of rediscovery for new players as well as for early fans.
