A PS5 still evolving
Launched in November 2020 in a complicated global context, the PS5 had a chaotic start marked by prolonged shortages due to the health crisis and tensions on supply chains. It was only after almost 18 months as the console became more widely available on the market.
Since then, Sony has continued to improve its machine with numerous system updates, the introduction of PS5 Slim and more recently, PS5 Pro. This latest, more powerful version aims to support end-of-year blockbusters and 2026 games.
What to expect next?
This update is part of a logic of regular refinement of the PS5 ecosystemalongside the imminent arrival of big titles like Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Monster Hunter Wilds Or Silent Hill. Sony is also preparing the integration of new social and community features via the PlayStation Network, expected in 2026.
