The owners of PlayStation 5 can currently discover two new experiences without spending a single cent. And unlike monthly PlayStation Plus games, no subscription is required. This time there are two playable demos, a formula that is often underestimated but nevertheless essential for testing a game before purchasing.
Why demos remain essential
In a market dominated by spectacular trailers and ambitious marketing campaigns, it’s sometimes difficult to know whether a game will actually deliver on its promises. A trailer can impress, but it doesn’t always reflect the full experience. The demos, on the other hand, allow you to form a concrete opinion on the handling, the atmosphere, the artistic direction or even the rhythm of the gameplay.
Of course, a demo is only a limited portion of the final product. However, it significantly reduces the risk of purchasing a game based solely on promotional images. Sony therefore continues to offer this format, and two new titles enrich the offer.
DAMON and BABY: a stylized and strategic shoot’em up
Developed and published by Arc System Works, DAMON and BABY is a two-stick, top-down shoot’em up. At first glance, the concept seems simple: explore and destroy everything that stands in your way. But the game also focuses on a strategic dimension, particularly when facing imposing bosses which require thought and anticipation. Its cel-shaded visual style immediately catches the eye, giving the game a strong graphic identity. Although the full release is planned in the coming days, the demo is already available on the PlayStation Store.
Kusan: City of Wolves: brutal action and dystopian atmosphere
The second title, Kusan: City of Wolvesadopts a different approach while remaining in the shooter register. Developed by CIRCLEfromDOT, this game is clearly inspired by the nervous energy of Hotline Miamiwhile integrating an atmosphere reminiscent of Cyberpunk 2077. The action takes place in a dystopian universe where violence is omnipresent. The gameplay promises to be explosive, with a fast pace and fast-paced clashes. No precise release date has yet been announced for the full version, other than a window set at 2026. In the meantime, the demo already allows you to test the game’s potential.
How to download these demos for free
To access these two titles, simply go to the PlayStation Store via your PS5 and search for their name. Then click “Download demo” to start the installation. No PS Plus subscription is required, making these trials accessible to all players. These initiatives remind us that demos remain an excellent way to discover independent productions and explore experiences different from the usual AAA blockbusters. If you’re looking for something new to try without financial risk, these two proposals are definitely worth a look.
