Developed by the independent studio Awacebbased in Bordeaux and founded by two developers of New Caledonian origin, Tchia immerses players in a poetic journey through a fictional archipelago largely inspired by Kanak culture. The game follows the touching story of Tchia, an intrepid young girl, who sets out to find her father kidnapped by the tyrant Meavora.
The gameplay, focused on exploration and freedom, combines climbing, swimming, navigation and gliding. We find a strong organic component in the way the world reacts to the player’s actions: spreading fire, manipulatable objects, or even special abilities such as “soul transmigration” allowing one to temporarily embody animals or objects.
