Since its release at the end of 2024 on iOS and Android, Pokemon Pocket has established itself as a must-have for fans of mobile trading cards. In just one year, the game has gone from strength to strength several major expansionswith a total exceeding 1,000 cards available. Weekly events, special boosters like Luxury boosterand the rapid printing format have attracted a wide audience.
But behind this success, a persistent frustration is regularly expressed by the players: the Cartodexa sort of Pokédex card version, suffers from a logic problem that annoys collectors. In question? An archiving system that does not take into account duplicates between boosters.
A defect that penalizes demanding collectors
In Pokemon Pocket, certain cards are common to several boosters. However, when a player obtains one, it is only saved in the tab of the set from which it comesand not in all the collections where it is also supposed to appear. Result: incomplete pages, maps although in possession but invisible elsewhere, and a Cartodex that seems wobbly for perfectionists.
This design flaw particularly harms the most committed players, those looking to complete each set 100%or who regularly check their progress. A lot of feedback has been provided over the months, with no clear response from the developers. Until today.
A major announcement… but a frustrating wait
On the occasion of the game’s first anniversary, the developers of Pokemon Pocket finally announced a momentous update which directly responds to this request: all common cards will, in the future, automatically and retroactively counted in all boosters where they appear. This means that a single draw will be enough to validate a card in all the sets concerned.
However, this fix does not seem easy to implement, since it will not be deployed only in summer 2026. The wait will therefore be long, but the promise is clear: the unjustified “holes” in the digital binders will finally be filled, and the entire collection experience will gain in coherence.
Strategic timing as the Mega Evolution set approaches
The announcement of this overhaul of the Cartodex is not insignificant: it comes a few days before the release of the new set Mega Evolutionwaited for October 30, 2025. This new content could mark the start of a series Bor even an evolution of the structure of boosters with the return of old cards.
This context seems ideal for gradually introducing the new Cartodex logic, even if its commissioning is only planned in several months. The objective is clear: modernize the collection interfacewhile relying on future expansions to justify its usefulness.
This orientation also shows the desire to DeNAthe game’s publisher, to evolve Pokemon Pocket into a sustainable platform, which adapts to the needs of its community without haste. A cautious approach, but expected.
Proof of listening… and a technical challenge to take up
This announcement reassures players : their criticisms have been heard, and a concrete solution is on the way. But it also raises a question: why is it necessary wait more than a year for such a structuring functionality?
If we are to believe the density of the catalog and the complexity of the interactions between boosters, the answer probably lies in the technical architecture of the game. Implementing automatic backward compatibility between thousands of cards and several sets involves heavy development, and undoubtedly a deep database reworking of the application.
The wait will be long, but the promise is ambitious: finally offering Pokemon Pocket players a Cartodex worthy of the name. In the meantime, collectors will have to arm themselves with patience… or a very good personal sorting system.
