Until now, leaving a review on a PlayStation game was limited to a 1 to 5 star rating. No comment, no justification, no debate. A dry, isolated, uninviting note. With his last updateSony corrects the situation by introducing a written notice systemin line with what Steam has been offering for years.
Concretely, PS4 and PS5 players can now write game reviews up to 4,000 wordsaccompanied by a title, a star rating and, if necessary, a spoiler warning. It is even possible to indicate whether you have completed the game or not. A real revolution in the PlayStation ecosystem.
An expected feature… but not yet on console
For now, this new option is only available via the web version of PlayStation Store. Reviews are therefore only visible (and editable) online, but Sony does not rule out direct console integration in the near future.
The principle is simple: if you purchased a game in digital version on the PlayStation Store, you can now share your full opinion. This development marks a turning point in the way the PlayStation community can express itself on its favorite titles… or its disappointments.
And the first feedback was not long in coming: hundreds of reviews have already been posted, particularly around the very recent Ghost of Yoteiacclaimed by the players. One of them confesses to dreading finishing the game, as “nothing else will ever come close to it”, while another affirms that Yotei eclipses Ghost of Tsushima.
A valuable tool at the time of big PS5 launches
This new development comes at a strategic time. Ghost of Yotei, Death Stranding 2or even Alan Wake 2 marked the year 2025 on the PS5 side. Thanks to written reviews, hesitant players can now get a better idea of a game before making a purchase.
This system could also promote independent or little-known games, which often benefit from an active and passionate community. Conversely, it offers a space for disappointed or critical players to express themselves, in a structured framework supervised by Sony.
Add to that the recent release of the new model PS5 Slim Digital Editionlighter and with a matte design, and everything indicates that the firm intends to strengthen the user experience on all fronts.
