The appetite for Larian RPGs is still there
Baldur’s Gate 3 certainly didn’t need anyone to continue being one of the most played games on Steam even in 2026, but Divinity’s announcement gave a boost to the game’s sales.
Swen Vincke, CEO of Larian, said this himself in a tweet in response to an Internet user who was surprised to see the game recently reach a peak of more than 110,000 simultaneous connections, which is quite remarkable for a solo (and cooperative) oriented game of this kind. Vincke states that in reality, it is mostly Divinity: Original Sin 2 who took advantage of this new craze :
“ Sales of Baldur’s Gate 3 and Divinity: Original Sin 2 have been incredible since Divinity’s announcement. Divinity: Original Sin 2 really surprised us by having its best month since its release in 2017. I wish I had removed the squirrel in time. 🙂 »
It must be said that this title also benefited from a re-release on Switch 2, PS5 and Xbox Series, which contributed to this renewed energy. And thanks to the Steam sales, the game was able to achieve very good figures on the Valve platform, with a peak in attendance that it had no longer experienced after the release of Baldur’s Gate 3. All this bodes well for the next episode of the saga.
