Obsidian knows everyone would like a Fallout New Vegas 2, but the studio wants to focus on its own licenses

Priority to homemade creations

The bosses of Obsidian are obviously not blind, and see clearly that the popular demand around a new Fallout New Vegas is very strong. Marcus Morganvice-president of operations within the studio, is willing to acknowledge this at the microphone of The Game Business, in an interview where he indicates that despite this very strong wish, Obsidian is currently happy to focus on its own licenses :

I know that on the Internet, whenever one of our games is announced, everyone asks: “When is the next Fallout: New Vegas coming out?” But this year, all three games are based on our own licenses. Before joining Microsoft, we mainly worked on third-party licensing. And that’s all the fun we have in creating our own licenses. We’ve gotten to the point where we have sequels for every game. »

Between The Outer Worlds 2, Grounded 2 And Avowed (in the universe of Pillars of Eternity), the studio has indeed not been idle during this year 2025. The studio seems for the moment determined to experiment within its own series, rather than having constraints by borrowing the licenses of another, like Fallout. In other words, no Fallout New Vegas 2 in the pipeline for Obsidian, at least not for now, but who knows if Bethesda will one day entrust this project to another studio or not.
