Online security, a subject that concerns everyone
Nintendo, Sony Interactive Entertainment and Microsoft have just expressed themselves in unison via a press release which aims to show that the three are on the same wavelength when it comes to ensuring the safety of players, especially the youngest. No concrete announcements to note here, except that the trio wants to continue its commitment in this area, particularly on prevention:
“ We provide control tools allowing players to personalize their gaming experience. We also support parents by providing them with the necessary tools and information to help them define gaming experiences suited to their children. […] We encourage parents and players to review our codes of conduct and terms of use, with the goal of fostering positive gaming experiences for all. These rules are applied using various preventive and corrective measures. Furthermore, we design our products around principles of transparency and player autonomy, in order to offer intuitive experiences, respectful of everyone’s choices and centered on the user. »
The three also indicate working with external partners to carry out certain research and best protect the public online:
“ We conduct joint research to inform public policy decisions and drive innovation within the industry. For our part, we also collaborate with independent research centers specializing in the study of gaming and well-being. We work hand-in-hand with our communities to promote responsible behavior and encourage the use of reporting tools to identify and report inappropriate behavior. Dedicated tools and processes are in place to ensure rapid response to emerging incidents. »
The trio continues:
“ This partnership illustrates our desire to collaborate on solutions to strengthen player safety and ensure that our games remain welcoming to everyone. The video game industry has a strong heritage in protecting gamers, particularly children. Aware that these issues require collective action and shared values, we invite all players in the sector to commit to our side for the safety and well-being of players everywhere. »
In short, a commitment more symbolic than anything else here, which ends with the desire to demonstrate that the three manufacturers can be united on important subjects.
