New “Pokémon” theme park opens next year

The Pokémon Company recently announced that PokéPark Kanto will be opening its doors much earlier than expected, making it accessible to visitors in time for the franchise’s 30th anniversary. We summarize.

Opening in February 2026

The PokéPark Kanto is described as the first permanently installed outdoor attraction related to the “Pokémon” franchise – and it sets a remarkable standard right from the start. On around 26,000 square meters in the green hilly area of Tama in Tokyo, visitors can expect a mixture of the “forest” and “city” themes.

The vast wilderness of the “Pokémon Forest” stretches over almost 500 meters and offers various terrains such as hilly paths, tall grass, tunnels, rocky paths and much more, on which Pokémon move around, fight, share berries or simply hide underground or in the countryside.

If you need a break or want to take a more relaxed approach, you can meet trainers from all over the world and make new contacts in “Sedge Town”. There is also a Pokémon trainer market with merchandise, the Pokémon Center, the PokéMart, the Sedge Gym, a Pokémon parade and two other attractions.

The grand opening of the theme park has been scheduled for February 5th, 2026, in time for the 30th anniversary of the “Pokémon franchise” on February 27th, 2026. Advance ticket sales are scheduled to start in the next few weeks, although the prices are not yet known.
