Manga JAM Session fights against impending bankruptcy with crowdfunding

The Austrian publisher Manga JAM Session is facing possible bankruptcy, which they would like to prevent with a crowdfunding campaign.

25,000 euros needed

In order to ensure the continued existence of the small, independent manga publisher from Vienna, a financing target of 25,000 euros was set, which fans can meet until December 7, 2025. At the time the article was published, just over 9,500 euros had already been raised through Startnext.

According to an Instagram post by Manga JAM Session, the financial difficulties were triggered by sales problems. Wholesalers initially placed large book orders, but then sent them back.

The unusually high number of returns caused major losses, especially since a commission was charged to the sales partner for each delivery, which had to be paid twice for further sales.

As a result, the wholesalers in question are no longer being supplied and discussions are being held with the sales partner about better conditions. However, the financial damage that has already occurred makes it impossible to acquire new licenses or continue the existing manga series without help.

The latter include “From Now on Sister!”, “A Wild Last Boss Appeared!”, “The Hero Without Class,” “The Margrave Starts with Zero Subjects,” “Fabiniku,” “Helck,” “Hell Mode,” “Forbidden Alliance” and “Wakaba in the Cinema,” as well as the e-book series “A Mangaka’s Weirdly Wonderful Workplace,” “TenPuru” and “Time Stop Hero.”
