Konami boosts its salaries by nearly 30% in Japan

A spectacular increase for new employees

As with Capcom or Atlus, large Japanese publishers and studios want to attract new talent and keep those already in place. To achieve this, increasing salaries remains one of the most effective solutions. In addition, it generally constitutes an indicator of good financial health. The other major reason is that these companies also want to offer more competitive remuneration in order to attract new talent in an increasingly competitive job market.

Konami has thus unveiled a significant increase in its entry salary for young graduates. This now increases to 310,000 yen per month (€1,692.91), an increase of around 29% compared to 2023.. Beyond the new recruitments, Konami is also announcing a salary increase for all of its employees with an additional monthly increase. This is the fifth consecutive year that the company has carried out this type of salary increase.

Konami insists that the success of its productions rests above all on its teams:

The source of our competitiveness in the creation of these products and services lies in our human resources themselves, and we intend to continue to generate innovation driven by the diversity of our talents. By continuously investing in human capital, including through the increase in base salaries announced this time, we aim to improve the engagement of our employees and continue to create better products and services. Looking ahead to the next five to ten years, the Konami Group is committed to ensuring sustainable growth by attracting diverse talent, maximizing the capabilities of its employees and creating a work environment that is both pleasant and fulfilling.

The time when the company was mocked for its pachinko business now seems to be over. Indeed, Konami has experienced a big revival in recent years. The publisher has notably relaunched several major licenses such as Silent Hill 2 Remake,Silent Hill f or even Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. All have been critical and commercial successes. Konami has not finished exploiting its historic licenses and is already preparing the sequel with Castlevania: Belmont’s Cursedeveloped by the French from Evil Empire.
