If Final Fantasy does not speak to a young audience, it is also linked to the pace of release of recent episodes according to Naoki Yoshida

The wait between each episode would have worked against the saga

During a passage in a video (relayed by GamesRadar) celebrating the launch of the mobile game Dissidia Duellum Final FantasyNaoki Yoshida spoke about the fact that young audiences could not perceive the saga Final Fantasy in the same way as the slightly older public, to the extent that the latter was flooded with many games at a constant pace :

I’m 53 years old and I’ve been playing Final Fantasy since the first episode. But for younger generations, accustomed from a young age to dynamic combat and competitive online gaming, the final episodes of the series may have been more difficult to grasp. Part of this is because, unfortunately, the intervals between new title releases have lengthened, so some players haven’t had the opportunity to engage with the series like early fans did.. »

A verse already partially heard from Yoshi-P, who firmly believes that young audiences favor action games. And to this he adds that this latest mobile game may be able to attract a new audienceagain younger, attracted by social features.

I hope that long-time Final Fantasy fans, as well as those who love the characters, can find this game a completely new experience. Especially for the youngest: if this game becomes a place where they can create a community, share their enthusiasm and even discover the extended universe of Final Fantasy, that would be great. »

Even if new entry points are always welcome, we might think that Naoki Yoshida is perhaps a little disconnected from the public’s expectations as he seems to think that a mobile game Final Fantasy is more likely to attract neophytes than a truly ambitious new episode, which would bring together both longtime fans and new ones. Especially since the saga still remains prolific despite the gaps between its different main episodes.

Let us nevertheless grant the producer the fact that he was there in an exercise of Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasyenough to put certain comments into perspective. It cannot be ruled out that the whole thing is part of the problem, but the questioning should perhaps not stop there.
