GTA 6: Take-Two finally clarifies the price before release

After years of rumors, the fear of GTA 6 sold for €100 had started to take hold among players. Between inflation in the price of AAA games and a colossal budget for Grand Theft Auto VImany expected a sudden increase when it came time to checkout.

In an interview focused on in-game advertising, the boss of Take-Two Interactive, Strauss Zelnickfinally gave a very clear benchmark. A simple sentence, dropped almost in passing, was enough to frame the price range of GTA 6 and to specify what players will have – and will not have – in the final version.

GTA 6: Strauss Zelnick’s sentence which buries the fantasy of the €100 game

Asked by Christopher Dring for The Game Business about advertising in PC and console games, Strauss Zelnick made a clear distinction between free-to-play and premium titles. “Well, for free-to-play games, yes. For titles you paid $70 or $80 for, no.” Difficult to be more explicit on the expected value of a big game from the group.

The manager detailed that “we have a little advertising in games like NBA 2K because, you know, it fits the setting. You want to see advertising in an arena, in a stadium, because you would see it if you were there in reality.” But above all he adds: “It’s very difficult for me to believe that we would want to have interstitial advertising in a game that someone paid 70 or 80 dollars for, it would seem unfair.

For the specialized press, this range of 70 to 80 dollars, or approximately 70 to 80 €, corresponds directly to the reference price of GTA 6 at launch. No level at €100 for the Standard edition therefore, but a positioning aligned with other current blockbusters.

GTA 6: how much will the different editions cost on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S?

If Rockstar Games has not yet published the official grid, analysts are converging on a Standard edition of Grand Theft Auto VI displayed between €69.99 and €79.99 on PS5 And Xbox Series. The repeated mention of “70 or 80 dollars” by Strauss Zelnick clearly reinforces this scenario.

Following the model of current large AAAs, specialized sites anticipate several levels: a Deluxe or Special edition around €90 to €110, with in-game bonuses, then Premium or Collector editions above €120, or even close to €200 for the most comprehensive boxes. These are still estimates, but the calculation basis is now well defined.

For French players, the message is clear: the basic bill should remain comparable to that of a major recent PS5 or Xbox game, the increase in price coming mainly from higher editions and, later, online content.

GTA 6: no interstitial ads, release date set for November 19, 2026

Another key point confirmed by Take-Two Interactive : there is no question of cutting the single-player experience from GTA 6 with interstitial ads while the game is sold for €70 to €80 full price. Complementary monetization will rather take place through the future online mode, in line with GTA Onlineand by the different editions of the game.

Grand Theft Auto VI is officially expected on November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 And Xbox Series. The PC version will arrive later, as often with Rockstar Games. Pre-orders are not yet officially open, so it is still advisable to wait for the sheets to appear on the PlayStation and Xbox stores or at major retailers before taking out your bank card.
