A free-to-play that generous?
Today comes out Duet Night Abyss after having gathered nearly 15 million pre-registrations. This mix between action-RPG, hack’n slash and even a hint of shooter-looter arrives with the promise of making us experience a story to follow from two different points of view with two protagonists, as well as 19 playable characters at launch. Characters that you will not unlock through the lottery, but via a system of “shards” that you will have to collect via various means in order to summon the fighter of your choice.
A mechanism which, on paper, is more advantageous for the public, but let’s not forget that such free-to-play needs to be profitable. Who knows how long it will take to farm, farm, and farm again to obtain the shards of the desired character in game, and if paid systems will not offer to speed all this up. Despite everything, the promise of a system different from traditional gacha can be attractive.
