Fortnite: a new free skin is available, here’s how to get it

It’s the kind of gift that catches the eye – especially when it’s given. Epic Games is currently offering a new free skin in Fortnite, but on one condition: reside in the correct location. The skin, called Freediver, has been accessible since November 19 only via a partnership reserved for British players. One more frustration for other battle royale fans.

Available for a limited time, this blue skin with its casual style – hoodie, shorts, sneakers and mask with glasses – is already getting people talking. But there is no point trying to unblock it if you are not a customer of the O2 operator or Virgin Media in the United Kingdom. The offer is reserved for their subscribers, who must go through the Priority application to obtain a unique code. This code allows you to activate a special quest in the game, upon completion of which the Freediver skin and experience points are offered.

A new Fortnite skin offered, but not for everyone

Unlike other global offers, this one is strictly geolocalized. Only players with a British number linked to one of the two operators can download the Priority application and claim their code. Outside the UK, access to the app or site is blocked, making it almost impossible without a VPN and valid subscription data.

This is not a bug or an oversight: Epic Games has simply chosen to link this content to a local partnership, as has been the case in other promotional campaigns in the past. Players based outside the United Kingdom will therefore have to be patient… or hope for wider future distribution.

How to get the Freediver skin for free?

Here is the procedure followed by eligible subscribers:

  • Download the Priority app on their smartphone.
  • Log in with their O2 or Virgin Media account.
  • Access the offer dedicated to the Freediver skin.
  • Collect a code to use in Fortnite to activate a special quest.
  • Complete the in-game mission to unlock the skin and bonus XP.

No precise duration of availability has been announced, but this type of operation is generally ephemeral. Once the offer expires, it’s unlikely the skin will be offered again – at least in this form.

Why this skin risks becoming very rare

Fortnite is known for its aggressive cosmetic content rotation policy. Some skins appear for a few days, then disappear from the radar, never to return. This is what makes them valuable, and what motivates a constant hunt among collectors.

The Freediver skin could well follow this trajectory. Associated with a specific region, distributed under specific conditions and for a limited time, it ticks all the boxes of rare cosmetics. And as is often the case in Fortnite, it is these skins that are the most dreamy for those who do not own them.
