Cyberpunk 2077 returns in 2026 with two new games and a possible surprise

Two new projects, millions raised and an ever richer universe. The year 2026 promises to be a turning point for Cyberpunk 2077, which refuses to be forgotten. While the direct sequel to the game is still in its infancy, CD Projekt RED is preparing a comeback through two new experiences.

Alongside the future release of Cyberpunk 2, whose development is slowly accelerating in parallel with The Witcher 4, the year 2026 will be marked by two expected launches: a board game and a collectible card game. Two different but complementary ways to explore Night City.

An immersive board game that has already won over fans

Launched through crowdfunding in 2025 by the Go On Board studio, in partnership with CD Projekt RED, Cyberpunk 2077: The Board Game met with dazzling success. “She quickly raised over $10 million.”

Initially scheduled for December 2025, the game was pushed back slightly in order to refine the final details. It is now scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2026. “Cyberpunk 2077: The Board Game is now targeting the second quarter of 2026, but that’s not all we’ll get this year.”

The game will allow you to embody emblematic figures of the universe such as V, Judy, Panam or even Jackie, in cooperative missions across Night City, up to 4 players. Expansions are already planned, including Silverhand & NCPD, Trauma Team and Phantom Liberty.

A collectible card game for strategists

At the same time, another project is starting to make headlines. CD Projekt RED is partnering with WeirdCo to launch a physical trading card game, also planned for 2026. “This physical-only trading card game is developed by CD Projekt RED and WeirdCo, and will allow players to assemble the best team to become legends of Night City.”

The principle: build your own squad from cult characters from the saga and cybernetic equipment, in order to rule the city. The first confirmed cards include Panam Palmer, Judy Alvarez, Adam Smasher, Mantis Blades and Kiroshi Optics.

Crowdfunding via Kickstarter is in preparation. “The Cyberpunk card game Kickstarter is currently planned for an unspecified date in 2026, with the first physical packs shipping to players by the end of the year.”

And for video games? A future still uncertain but promising

While Cyberpunk 2 won’t arrive for several years, that doesn’t mean the base game has been completely abandoned. Quite the contrary. Despite the announced end of support, updates continued to be released in 2025.

And some fans still want to believe in additional content or a final surprise. “I wouldn’t be surprised if 2026 brings at least a little new content for the current game.” One thing is certain: between board games, collectible cards and persistent rumors, Night City is far from having bowed out.
