Crystal Dynamics continues to lay off people, the studio behind the next Tomb Raider sheds around 30 people

Second wave of dismissals in a few months

Crystal Dynamics is in dire straits. While the studio is expected to unveil the next Tomb Raider, the only news surrounding the company concerns layoffs. A new wave of dismissals was announced a few hours ago on LinkedIn, with “ a little less than 30 people » concerned, in various sectors of activity :

Today, we made the difficult but necessary decision to reorganize the Crystal Dynamics studios and teams. As a result, we have parted ways with just under 30 team members across various departments and projects as we restructure the company and business for our next generation. Crystal deeply thanks everyone affected for their incredible talent, hard work and dedication, which has helped shape the studio in so many ways. We are committed to providing you with all our resources and support during this transition. »

At the same time, Crystal Dynamics quickly wants to reassure the public by declaring that working on the next game tomb Raider continues, and even indicates that these dismissals are aimed “ to optimize » its development :

To our players, as the realities of the industry continue to evolve, we have made these painful choices in order to optimize the continued development of our flagship game Tomb Raider, as well as to shape the rest of the studio to create new games for the future. »

It’s hard to believe that the game won’t suffer, as its production is punctuated with pitfalls. Despite this very bad news, it is not impossible that this tomb Raider will be revealed next month, during the Game Awards, as they will be broadcast for the very first time on Amazon Prime Video. Amazon being the publisher of the game, we will quickly make the connection.
