Imagine a completely empty multiplayer map, with no buildings, no scenery, no obstacles – just a huge green screen as far as the eye can see. No, it’s not a bug. It’s one of the most surprising surprises slipped into Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, and yet few players know it exists.
The latest opus of the cult franchise is full of content: ambitious single-player campaign, Zombies mode, frenetic multiplayer… But also a PvE mode called Endgame and a hidden map that does not appear anywhere in the classic menus. And for good reason: it is only unlocked in private matches.
A card invisible to the general public
The most curious recently got their hands on a new card, soberly called “Green Screen”. The name is not symbolic – it is literal. Once loaded into this map, there is nothing but a gigantic green background. No buildings, no decorative elements, absolutely nothing.
This voluntary choice has only one goal: to allow players to create their own content. YouTube videos, TikTok, memes, animated GIFs… The neutral and empty environment makes editing and overlaying easy. It offers a unique tool for content creators, such as a virtual studio integrated into the game.
Treyarch designed this map as a digital filming space for the community. And yet, it was not officially announced in the patch notes or studio communications. It was the players themselves who discovered it, somewhat by chance.
How to access the secret map in Black Ops 7
The procedure is surprisingly simple. Simply start a private game in Black Ops 7. Once in the map selection menu, “Green Screen” appears. You can then choose it and start a session like any other terrain.
No special handling, no hidden code, no complicated prerequisites. What makes it so discreet is that it simply isn’t visible when playing public games. Unless you’re used to exploring private modes, you’d have missed out and never heard about them.
The card can absolutely be used for a real game – in 1v1 for example – but it has no tactical interest. Without cover, relief, or hiding place, it does not offer any classic gameplay. It was designed for another use.
A unique tool for content creators
With this card, Treyarch addresses part of its community directly: those who film, divert, edit and share their gameplay. Green screen has long been an indispensable tool for videographers and streamers, and this card makes it directly accessible in the Call of Duty universe.
Some will see it as a gimmicky feature. Others an infinite field of experimentation. By allowing filming in a completely neutral environment, Black Ops 7 opens the door to new creations, humorous diversions, in-house special effects and even original staging.
We can imagine stylized intros, trailer parodies, dynamic tutorials… or even short films made entirely within the game.
And for those who want to go even further, this map could well become a training area for editing or 3D production, like the “map studios” already popular in other titles.
