Bluepoint Games wanted to produce a Bloodborne remake, Sony was up for it, but FromSoftware said no

Miyazaki really didn’t want to let go of his baby

When Bluepoint Games was forced to drop its game service God of Warhe quickly had to find other pitches to present. As the studio specializes in remakes, and has already produced a Demon’s Souls Remakeit was natural that he would be interested in another FromSoftware game. And the ideal candidate was obviously Bloodborne. A game that is too cramped on PS4, which deserves at least a slightly more modern PS5 version to make the experience more comfortable, in the absence of having a PC version which would push the envelope even further.

And that’s what Bluepoint wanted to do. The desire to develop a remake of Bloodborne was very present in the studiothis is why, after the failure of his game God of Warhe went to pitch this idea to Sony. Bloomberg reports that Sony would have been up for such a projectwhile the manufacturer has often been accused of sitting on this gold mine for years. But there was one entity that wasn’t comfortable with this: FromSoftware.

According to this article, it was the Japanese studio that blocked the project. Which is not very surprising given that Shuhei Yoshida, ex-PlayStation, had already declared in the past that Hidetaka Miyazaki was certainly interested in the return of Bloodbornebut he was also too busy to take care of it personally and did not want to delegate this task. Therefore, we imagine that it was Miyazaki who indirectly said no to Bluepoint Games, and Sony respected the desire of the Japanese creator.

An understandable wish, although quite sad for fans of the license, as well as for Bluepoint Games which could here hold the project which would have saved it from its closure.
