With the imminent release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7players are preparing to free up significant space on their hard drives. Preloading has begun, and the figures circulating confirm what many feared: Treyarch’s next opus promises to be once again gigantic in terms of storage.
Between the different game modes, additional packs and the integration of Call of Duty HQ, the total weight of the game can exceed the 160 GBdepending on the platform.
Up to 166 GB required on PS5
On PlayStation 5, the most concrete information comes from the back of the game’s physical box. It announces 166 GB space required. However, this size varies slightly depending on the type of installation. Data shared by the PlayStation Game Size account indicates a more nuanced breakdown:
- Basic game: 96.677 GB
- Cooperative campaign: 15.594 GB
- Warzone Bundle: 19.734 GB
Which represents approximately 132 GB totalwithout including possible future multiplayer or zombie content. It is therefore very likely that the 166 GB estimate takes these future additions into account.
A slightly lighter PC version
On PC, the data shared by CharlieIntel suggests a size minimum of 116 GBwithout specifying the distribution between the different modules. An estimate that probably does not include post-launch updates or files for future seasons.
The Xbox version has not yet officially revealed its size, but trends from previous episodes suggest that it will be in the same waters as the PS5 version.
Call of Duty HQ remains essential
A good part of this space is occupied by Call of Duty HQan application that centralizes all the recent titles of the franchise, including Modern Warfare II, III And Warzone. Its presence has often been singled out by fans, because it makes it difficult to manage individual games and increases the weight of the facilities.
Some hoped that Black Ops 7 frees itself from it, but the structure of the game is still based on this architecture. It is therefore impossible to install Black Ops 7 without going through this application.
A modular but restrictive size
Good news despite everything: players will be able to choose which elements to keep or delete. Once the single-player campaign is finished, it will be possible to uninstall it to free up several dozen GB. The same goes for Warzone or other packs, depending on your gaming preferences.
This modular management has become a habit in the franchise, but it does not detract from the initial impact: a complete installation will undoubtedly exceed the 150 GB from launch day. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will be released on November 14, 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
