No need to have a wallet as armored as your arsenal to dive into Battlefield Redsec. Launched at the same time as Season 1 of Battlefield 6, this free battle royale mode is an integral part of the world of EA’s cult shooter. But good news: you can play it even without purchasing Battlefield 6.
Since October 28, Battlefield Redsec has been available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. For Battlefield 6 owners, installation is almost automatic. Simply launch the updated game and select the Redsec option from the main menu, alongside the Campaign and Multiplayer modes. Be careful though, the patch is heavy: more than 21 GB on Xbox Series X|S.
Play Redsec if you already have Battlefield 6
If you own Battlefield 6, the transition to Redsec is seamless. No external downloads are necessary. Once the game is updated, the Redsec tab appears directly in the main menu. It’s quick, simple, and you keep all your customizations, accessories, and skins unlocked in Battlefield 6.
Play Redsec without purchasing Battlefield 6
Don’t want to buy Battlefield 6? You can still dive into Redsec. Independent clients are available for free on the main platforms: Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation and Xbox. Just search for them, download, and you’re ready to go.
Players without Battlefield 6 start at a slight disadvantage: some customizations or accessories are not available at first. But the equipment differences remain minor and do not hamper the overall experience.
