The first season of Battlefield 6 got off to a flying start with the arrival of REDSECits free-to-play Battle Royale mode. But that was just a taste. The studio has just revealed an ambitious roadmap for the months of November and December, with two major updates. On the program: new maps, new weapons, atypical vehicles, limited modes… and an extreme weather event that will radically change the rules of the game.
A War in California: new map, new modes, new weapons
From November 18players will discover Eastwooda new multiplayer map set in the heart of a fictional California in the grip of chaos. This luxury villa setting transformed into a battlefield will host all types of confrontations, with land and air combat involving infantry, vehicles and helicopters.
This heavenly setting now in ruins will not be the only novelty. A new 8v8 mode called “Sabotage” will appear. It will pit two teams against each other around a clear objective: protect or destroy strategic cargo spread across the map. A welcome return to demolition mechanics, where every grenade or gadget can make a difference.
On the side of REDSECthe update will add a Survival mission called “Rodeo”. The objective: dominate areas by occupying heavy tanks while accumulating eliminations. The intensity will increase a notch since the two worst performing squads will be eliminated at the end of each phase.
The arsenal is also enriched. Three main weapons will enter the game:
- Rorsch Mk-2 SMRW : a powerful railgun capable of piercing armor and structures
- MP-RMG : high rate minigun, effective against light vehicles
- DB-12 : double-barreled shotgun, formidable in close combat
And that’s not all. Players will also be able to test the M327 Trait revolverslow but ultra powerful, as well as the angular Troy handlea new accessory improving the ergonomics of shooting.
A freezing winter in Brooklyn: new survival mechanics and frosty map
Less than a month later, December 9Battlefield 6 will offer a very different experience. This time, it’s the cold that will become your worst enemy.
A revisited version of the map Empire Stateplunged into a snowstorm, will be temporarily accessible. Renamed Empire State Severe Coldit will serve as a theater for a limited event incorporating a new mechanic: the “Freeze”. If players cannot find a heat source, their health will gradually drop.
Several solutions to avoid ending up frozen: take refuge in predefined heat zones or start fires using incendiary grenades. A mechanic that transforms each move into a tactical choice. This rule will also apply in a special version of Survival mode on REDSECcalled “Great Cold Survival”.
This winter update will also include a new melee weapon : THE ice axcapable of inflicting deadly damage while offering new options for interacting with the environment.
Finally, all this content will also be integrated into Portalthe personalized mode editor, with rules and parameters adapted to these new climatic conditions.
Between a Californian villa transformed into a war zone, tactical missions under zero degrees and new equipment, the end of the year promises to be eventful on Battlefield 6. The developers promise ever more varied events between now and Season 2. But in the meantime, the roadmap for this first season already gives solid reasons to stay in the action.
