Available since the beginning of October, Battlefield 6 is getting an unexpected spotlight on PS5 with a time-limited free download offer. Here’s how to take advantage of it (or why you might not).
While the community is still exploring the new maps from Season 1, Sony is offering a unique offer related to Battlefield 6. This is not a classic demo or a trial via EA Play, but a free download limited to seven days, reserved for certain PlayStation Store users.
Free Battlefield 6 on PS5: what the surprise offer offers
As of October 22, 2025, PlayStation 5 players can access Battlefield 6 free of charge for one week, provided they meet certain criteria. The offer is linked to a free trial of PlayStation Plus Premiumavailable until November 6, 2025.
Concretely, if you buy the game from PlayStation Storea seven-day trial of the PS Plus Premium service is offered to you. This access allows you to test the full game, without multiplayer restrictions or feature limitations. On the other hand, if you are already a PS Plus subscriber, you are probably not eligible for the offer.
Who can take advantage of the free trial and how to activate it?
The conditions for accessing this free download are not entirely clear. Several users on Reddit report not seeing the offer appear, even after purchasing the game. It is likely that the trial is only accessible to new subscribers or to those who buy Battlefield 6 as part of this specific promotion.
A user shared an image of the Phantom Edition version of Battlefield 6 alongside the free trial, but the offer doesn’t appear to be universal. If you have already purchased the game or are a PS Plus subscriber, it may not be available to you.
Other players advise restart the console or game after purchase to activate access. In the event of a problem, it is recommended to contact Sony technical support.
Battlefield 6: what we know about the single-player campaign and restrictions
Although it is now free for a limited time, Battlefield 6 does not yet offer a trial period through EA Play. This absence could be explained by the short duration of the single player campaignestimated between five and eight o’clock according to HowLongToBeat.
On the other hand, the feedback on the game is rather positive. As Gamingbible’s Olly writes in his review: “It’s hard-hitting, direct and thrilling. Everything feels perfectly tailored to what gamers have wanted since the series’ golden era.”
Available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PCBattlefield 6 continues to expand its post-launch content with its first season, recently introduced via an explosive trailer. The free trial offer on PS5 therefore represents an ideal opportunity to dive into the battlefield, provided you act before the November 6.
