It was expected, it is now confirmed: Battlefield 6 is officially the biggest commercial success of the year in the United States. According to data from Circana, the FPS from Electronic Arts went straight to the top of the charts upon its release on October 10. In just three days, it sold more than 7 million copies, more than any other episode of the saga over an equivalent period.
This dazzling launch makes Battlefield 6 the biggest start in the history of the franchise, which celebrates its 23rd anniversary this year. Electronic Arts even called it “the biggest launch in the franchise”, far surpassing the performance of Battlefield 5, which took two months to reach the same sales volume.
A rise confirmed by official figures
On November 20, Mat Piscatella, senior director at Circana, published the ranking of the best game sales in the United States for the year 2025. Battlefield 6 occupies first place, ahead of highly anticipated titles like NBA 2K26, Monster Hunter Wilds and Borderlands 4.
This ranking is based on the turnover generated, including both physical and digital sales, on all platforms: PC, PlayStation and Xbox. Battlefield 6 thus surpasses established franchises like Call of Duty, whose Black Ops 6 episode still appears in the top 10, in 7th position. As for Black Ops 7, its figures are not yet integrated into the rankings, but there is no indication yet that it can catch up with Battlefield by the end of the year.
Circana also specifies that no new license appears in this annual top 10, confirming the total domination of large franchises. In 2024, only Elden Ring had managed to slip in as a new universe.
Battlefield reaches sales levels comparable to Call of Duty
To give an idea of the scale of this success, Battlefield 6 has already surpassed the lifetime sales of Battlefield 1, the series’ former record holder with 21 million units sold since 2016. The launch figures are spectacular: in three days, Battlefield 6 sold as much as Battlefield 3 and 4 in a week, and twice as many as Battlefield 5 in seven days.
With an average score of 83/100 on OpenCritic and 90% critical recommendations, the game also enjoys a generally positive reception. On specialized forums, some even speak of a “return to favor” for a license which had struggled to convince with Battlefield 2042.
For players who are still hesitant, EA regularly offers free trials lasting a few days. A strategy that could well push sales even higher between now and Christmas.
