An Avowed 2 would be in Obsidian’s plans, but no The Outer Worlds 3 in sight

A second episode without its director?

Chris Avellone knows Obsidian very well, as he is one of its founders. Even if it’s been a decade since he worked there, he undoubtedly knows what’s going on there, and doesn’t hesitate to say it bluntly on his social networks. On Twitter (X), he thus asserts that no sequence of The Outer Worlds 2 would be in preparation, at the moment. On the other hand, a Avowed 2 would be good in the pipeline :

Apparently, aside from DLC plans for Outer Worlds 2, it appears Obsidian isn’t making any plans for Outer Worlds 3 (but they are working on Avowed 2). »

Which may come as a surprise given that it is difficult to measure the success of the RPG today. When it was released, Avowed didn’t make much of a splash, but Xbox would have been satisfied with the reception given to the game. But with the departure of Carrie Patel (director of the project) a few weeks after the game’s release, we could see it as a sign that everything was not necessarily going well on the licensing side. A Avowed 2 may therefore surprise, but Obsidian has not yet confirmed this, and we imagine that at this stage, such plans for a sequel are still little advanced.
