The delays keep coming in the world of video games, and the 2026 calendar is already starting to fill up. While Rockstar Games has formalized the postponement of GTA 6 to November 19, 2026, another major game is being deleted in turn: Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra. The signed project Skydance Mediadeveloped under the leadership ofAmy Hennighas just seen its release slip a little further in time.
Announced with great fanfare in 2022, already delayed for the first time in early 2026the game had not been talked about for several months. It was finally in a message posted on social networks that the studio put an end to the suspense, by announcing a new delay.
Skydance plays the transparency card, but remains vague on the date
In its press release, the studio states: “Our goal is to deliver unforgettable, high-end games that pay homage to the characters and worlds we are lucky enough to work with.”
And to add: “Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is an ambitious project, and we are committed to ensuring that it meets the quality expectations of our team, players, and fans. To fully realize our vision, we have made the decision to push the release date beyond early 2026.”
Skydance concludes with a message to fans: “We’re grateful to the community and players around the world for their passion and support. The team is working hard to create something truly special, and we can’t wait to tell you more as development progresses.”
No new release window has been specified. But everything suggests that the game could slide towards end of year 2026or even beyond.
Discreet development, promising casting
Since its announcement, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra distinguished himself by discreet communication. Apart from a few technical images and gameplay leaks, few elements have been revealed. This prolonged silence had already fueled speculation even before the postponement was made official.
The game, however, promises an original universe set during the Second World War, where the player will embody Captain America and Black Pantherunited to confront the Hydra organization in a untold story supervised by Marvel Games. The achievement is based on theUnreal Engine 5and the first images made an impression for their graphic quality.
Behind the project, we find Amy Hennigemblematic creator of Uncharted, who here makes her return to the industry after several years of absence.
A tense context for 2026 releases
This postponement takes place in a context where the studios seem avoid the head-on confrontation with GTA 6whose release in fall 2026 will likely monopolize all the media and commercial attention. Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra could seek a more strategic window, by shifting its release to a less saturated period.
In the meantime, all expectations are focused on December Game Awardswhere an appearance of the title remains possible. Skydance has not confirmed anything, but a trailer or an excerpt of gameplay could help revive attention around this project that has remained in the shadows for too long.
