After criticism: Prime Video is taking anime AI synchros offline again

After Amazon’s streaming service Prime Video received heavy criticism in recent days for its AI-generated dubbed versions of anime series and films, these have now largely disappeared from the platform.

AI dubs have been removed

While only “Banana Fish” (English and Spanish), “Pet” (English) and “Vinland Saga” (Spanish) with AI dubbing were available in this country, in other countries there were also other anime such as “Highschool of the Dead”, “Journal of Mysterious Creatures”, “No Game No Life Zero” and “Karakuri Circus”.

Shortly after the release of the first titles, several voice actors – including Daman Mills, who has already been involved in numerous anime dubbings and has reached more than 4.2 million people with his contribution on X – expressed their displeasure and publicly called for a boycott of the provider.

Apparently the resistance from the industry was so strong that Amazon finally pulled the ripcord and removed all AI dubs in all countries for “Banana Fish” – the title that had received the most attention.

For other titles, some of the AI dubs are still online. The English AI dubbing of “Pet,” for example, is still available in Germany, but is already offline in the USA.

Statements from the industry

In response to a request from the US website Anime News Network regarding “No Game No Life Zero”, the publisher KADOKAWA, which was involved in the film production, announced that they were preparing an AI dubbed version “in no way” have agreed.

Sentai Filmworks, the North American rights holder for the prequel film, emphasized that they have “no information in advance” received via the AI synchronization and am now checking the process “together with Amazon”.

The German license holder of “Banana Fish” also commented on peppermint anime. The company explained on The disc release is expected to take place in summer 2026.
