A leak revives rumors about The Sims Project X, possible single-player alternative to the controversial Rene Project



The famous life simulation series developed by Maxis could well be preparing for a turning point. While we are still waiting for concrete news from “Project Rene”, another internal Electronic Arts initiative has just resurfaced via an unexpected leak. Called “Sims Project X”, this still unofficial game was revealed by an image sent anonymously to the Sims Community site. The visual, not yet authenticated, shows four stylized characters, in a rendering close to that of The Sims 4, but with visibly reinforced details. Marked “TSX_MATERIAL_SIMS_EXPLORATORY”, this file suggests an exploratory design phase of the title.

Project X: a solo alternative to Project Rene?

While Project Rene has already been presented as a game focused on multiplayer, Project X could embody the single-player option expected by some fans. For several months, rumors have mentioned two distinct tracks in development at EA. The leak of this visual reinforces this hypothesis. Although the exact nature of the game remains unclear, the presence of classically stylized and posed characters in a Sims environment suggests that the fundamentals of the series would not be abandoned. It remains to be seen whether this version of the project is still current or whether it has since been abandoned.
