A new contender has just entered the world of futuristic RPGs. Presented during the Xbox Partner Preview, Artificial Detective is already attracting attention with an ambitious promise: to offer an experience capable of rivaling Cyberpunk 2077. A major challenge, as CD Projekt RED’s game has established itself as a benchmark of the genre.
In a futuristic universe located in 2846, the player plays a detective robot responsible for solving a major mystery: the disappearance of humanity. Behind this intriguing concept, a project led by VIVIX Inc., a studio still discreet but composed of talents from recognized structures such as Love, Death & Robots, DreamWorks or Crytek.
Artificial Detective, a futuristic universe between investigation and robotic chaos
The game presents itself as a narrative and immersive adventure. According to its official description: “A third-person action-adventure game where a robot detective investigates the disappearance of humanity. From the creators of Love, Death & Robots, DreamWorks and Crytek »
From the first images, the atmosphere is obvious. A decopunk metropolis, invaded by machines that have gone out of control, serves as a playground. The player will have to navigate this unstable environment, between exploration and confrontations.
“Play as a robot detective with fragmented memories, in the year 2846, in a decopunk metropolis controlled by crazy robots. Accompanied by DAWG, your faithful military robot dog, and Mowgli, a young girl raised by machines, fight your way through a city where demented robots have taken over to discover why humanity has disappeared. »
Gameplay that focuses on action and infiltration
Beyond its universe, Artificial Detective seems to want to seduce with its gameplay. The first sequences show an alternation between dynamic combat and infiltration phases. The player will be able to adapt his approach depending on the situation. A more discreet strategy will allow you to rely on the robot dog to neutralize enemies without being detected. This choice of gameplay recalls certain mechanics already seen in recent games, while integrating into a narrative centered on the investigation. The objective will not only be to survive, but to understand a world where machines have taken over.
Can Artificial Detective really compete with Cyberpunk 2077?
The comparison with Cyberpunk 2077 is not trivial. CD Projekt RED’s game made an impression thanks to its dense universe and its freedom of approach. Artificial Detective seems to be taking a different direction, with a more investigation-oriented structure and a more cinematic atmosphere. Its trailer, mixing gameplay and cinematics, suggests an ambitious production, supported by careful staging.
A major unknown remains: the depth of its world and the richness of its interactions. It is often on these elements that the comparison with the major RPGs on the market is based.
A release planned for 2027 still shrouded in mystery
For the moment, Artificial Detective does not yet have a specific date. The game is targeting a 2027 release on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. This schedule gives the studio time to refine its project. But it also extends the wait around a title which already arouses a lot of curiosity. In a sector where spectacular announcements are numerous, Artificial Detective will have to confirm its promises. Its universe, its gameplay and its ambition could make it one of the major surprises of the coming years.
