Amazon Prime Gaming has just confirmed that 10 PC games will be offered for free in January 2026 to all Prime subscribers. If the selection does not contain recent blockbusters, it offers a nice diversity of genres and some nuggets not to be missed, especially for players who have just equipped themselves during the holidays.
Among the titles to be recovered, some are well worth the detour. Others cater to niches, but offer original experiences. All games are downloadable on specific dates on different platforms, and remain yours even if you cancel your subscription.
Varied games for all profiles
Unsurprisingly, the most notable game in the selection is Civilization 6, available now via the Epic Games Store.
“Civilization 6 is still widely considered by many to be one of the best 4X strategy games currently available on PC, and it’s a must-have for those looking to expand their PC library.” Even though Civilization 7 was released in 2025, many fans still prefer the sixth game’s balance of gameplay.
In addition to Civilization, Amazon offers several niche titles with very different atmospheres. “Reflections of Life: Dark Architect,” a point-and-click adventure game, will be available on January 6 on Amazon Games. On January 15, three games will be available via GOG: “Brigador: Armored Edition”, “Gunslugs: Outlaw Tactics” and “Death Guard”.
Other dates to remember:
- January 22: “Harold Halibut”, a stop-motion narrative adventure
- January 29: “Technotopia”, city-builder with deck-building mechanics
- January 29: “Elderborn,” a hardcore first-person melee game with a dark fantasy aesthetic
A retro game that will delight Stranger Things fans
Another title draws attention for its unapologetic vintage feel: “D&D Stronghold: Kingdom Simulator is more than 30 years old, but its mix of real-time city building and Dungeons & Dragons universe could appeal to some Stranger Things fans after the end of season 5.” It will be available for purchase from January 22 on GOG.
And on Amazon Luna?
At the same time, Amazon is also adding 13 titles to its Luna cloud gaming service, such as “Alan Wake Remastered”, “Hot Wheels Unleashed 2”, and “EA SPORTS Madden NFL 26”. These games are only playable via streaming, and their performance will depend on your connection.
