Borderlands 4: the best SHiFT codes active in January 2026 and how to use them



SHiFT Codes are making a comeback in Borderlands 4 and allow players to obtain rare rewards for free. Character skins, custom drones, legendary weapons or golden keys to open exclusive chests: all it takes is a 25-digit code to access high-level loot. But be careful, many of them expire very quickly.

Fortunately, several codes valid until the end of 2030 are still available. It is therefore urgent to activate them before they are deactivated by Gearbox. Here is a selection of the best active codes to date and instructions for activating them without missing anything.

These codes can only be used once per SHiFT account. Once activated, they give you access to cosmetic items or high-level loot in golden chests.

How to Redeem a SHiFT Code in Borderlands 4

First of all, you must link your SHiFT account to the platform on which you play (PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, etc.). You can create a SHiFT account directly via the game’s main or pause menu.

Once connected:

  1. Open it SHiFT menu
  2. Go to the tab “Rewards” (gift icon)
  3. Enter one of the codes listed above (no need for capital letters or hyphens)
  4. Validate to immediately receive the reward

You can also use the official Gearbox website to paste the codes without using the console or PC.

Where to collect your in-game rewards

Once a code is activated, go to one of the main cities in the game:

  • The Launchpad
  • Carcadia
  • Belton’s Bore
  • Upper DominionEdit

There you will find a golden chest special. Insert a Golden Key to obtain legendary weapons, mods or equipment. Skins and cosmetic items are automatically added to your inventory or the customization menu.

Temporary vs. permanent codes: how to navigate them

The majority of SHiFT codes have a limited lifespan, sometimes only a few hours. Others are valid for years. To avoid any unpleasant surprises:

  • Always redeem codes as soon as possible
  • Check the expiration dates mentioned
  • Follow the official Gearbox and Randy Pitchford accounts for surprise announcements

A good idea is to activate the codes even if you have not yet unlocked access to the golden chests: the rewards will remain stored in your SHiFT account history.
