The famous life simulation series developed by Maxis could well be preparing for a turning point. While we are still waiting for concrete news from “Project Rene”, another internal Electronic Arts initiative has just resurfaced via an unexpected leak. Called “Sims Project X”, this still unofficial game was revealed by an image sent anonymously to the Sims Community site. The visual, not yet authenticated, shows four stylized characters, in a rendering close to that of The Sims 4, but with visibly reinforced details. Marked “TSX_MATERIAL_SIMS_EXPLORATORY”, this file suggests an exploratory design phase of the title.
Project X: a solo alternative to Project Rene?
While Project Rene has already been presented as a game focused on multiplayer, Project X could embody the single-player option expected by some fans. Although the exact nature of the game remains unclear, the presence of classically stylized and posed characters in a Sims environment suggests that the fundamentals of the series would not be abandoned. It remains to be seen whether this version of the project is still current or whether it has since been abandoned.
A controversial graphic style
As soon as it was published on social networks, the image sparked an intense debate. Part of the community immediately compares the visual rendering to that of Fortnite, due to the cartoonish and colorful style of the characters. A parallel deemed unjustified by others, recalling that The Sims has always cultivated slightly stylized graphics since its beginnings. This type of reaction above all highlights the excitement of fans, who fear a too brutal break with the established visual identity of the series. As of yet, there is no indication that EA is looking to “Fortnite” the franchise.
EA remains silent, but the rumor machine is racing
Contacted indirectly by the community, EA did not confirm the authenticity of the leak. Worse, according to some, the image could even have been generated by artificial intelligence or artificially enlarged, without official validation. This doubt did not prevent discussions from intensifying, proof that the wait for a real successor to The Sims 4 is increasingly strong. Since its release in 2014, the fourth installment received a multitude of expansionsbut many hope for a more radical revival. Whether Project
