Steam: 4 new games to collect for free without conditions

If you have decided to limit your video game spending this year, Steam has thought of you. The platform is launching 2026 with a selection of completely free titles, with no mandatory microtransactions or subscription requirements. Four new games are already available for download, in very different genres, and all are worth a detour.

Behind this initiative, a simple logic: in a context where subscription services are multiplying and straining budgets, Steam continues to embody a direct free model. As the author points out, “Steam is one of the last bastions of the ‘free, no-obligation’ model.”

TOREROWA: an old-school cooperative RPG dungeon

The most promising title in this selection is undoubtedly TOREROWA, a rogue-like dungeon-RPG playable in cooperation. This is a PC port of an existing mobile game, now compatible with the controller on Steam. The studio specifies that players can also link their mobile accounts to the Steam version, which will allow their progress to be recovered.

Despite some residual bugs linked to its mobile origin, TOREROWA offers a complete experience for fans of team exploration. It is in line with the classics of the genre, with its dungeons to be explored in groups and its demanding gameplay.

Cybersoul: the cyberpunk heir of Slay the Spire

Card game fans should look into Cybersoul, which is directly inspired by the model popularized by Slay the Spire. In a futuristic dystopian atmosphere, the player controls three opposing factions and collects more than 100 cards to face their enemies.

The author confesses his personal enthusiasm: “I never tire of this genre and I can’t wait to discover the innovations it will bring”, while highlighting weighty references such as Monster Train 2, now considered a benchmark. Cybersoul therefore aims to renew the genre with its cyberpunk aesthetic and its inspired but reworked mechanics.

Land Run and Herofrenia: two more discreet proposals

The third game in the selection, Land Run, is aimed at solitary players. This is a solo card game, in a more compact and immediate format. Little information is available yet, but it appears to offer a simple alternative to more complex titles in the genre.

As for Herofrenia Infinite Hyperdeath, it is intriguing as much by its name as by its concept. It’s a role-playing game with top-down shooting mechanics, which is currently only available in an untranslated version. It is therefore aimed at an audience already comfortable with games in a foreign language, but seems to offer a frenetic and original experience.

A 100% free start in 2026, with no obligation

These four games have one thing in common: no subscription is required. As the author reminds us, “you can download for free on Steam right now, with no strings attached.”

While paid services tend to become more widespread in the sector, Steam continues to offer varied experiences, accessible to all. And according to Chris Carter, it’s only just beginning: “More titles will be added throughout the year.”
